Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer boarding for rabbits and guinea pigs.  Other small pets such as hamsters/small birds can be discussed.  We DO NOT offer boarding for cats/dogs.

  • We are located in Newmarket Ontario Canada, only a short drive north out of Toronto.

  • Yes!  With over 30 years of experience owning these animals, as well as a B.Sc in Zoology from Guelph University!  You can be assured that your pets will have a very educated and knowledgeable caregiver while they are in our care.

  • We do not currently require the RHDV2 (rabbit hemorrhagic disease) vaccine, but we strongly recommend it to help protect your rabbit from this serious disease.

Starting in 2026, we will offer a 5% discount for rabbits with an up-to-date RHDV2 vaccine. To receive the discount, you must provide proof of a current vaccine appointment at the time of boarding.

Vaccinating your rabbit not only helps keep them safe, but also supports the health of all the rabbits in our care.

  • Your pet’s health and well-being are our top priority. If we notice any signs of illness or unusual behavior, we will contact you immediately. If the condition worsens and we cannot reach you, we will contact your emergency contact for further instructions.

If no emergency contact is provided or they are also unreachable, our options are limited, as veterinary clinics require owner consent before proceeding with any treatment.

Should veterinary care be needed, we can transport your pet to a vet clinic in Newmarket for a starting fee of $200. This fee is due to the fact that we have other pet's in our care that will need to be looked after while we are with your pet.  All veterinary costs are the owner's responsibility. We strongly encourage owners to leave detailed emergency care instructions and a trusted emergency contact to ensure prompt care if needed.

  • We only accept rabbits and guinea pigs that live fully indoors, unless they have a recent health certificate from a veterinarian stating they are free from communicable diseases and parasites and have been treated with Revolution at least 1 week prior to their stay but no more than 3 weeks prior. This policy helps protect the health of all animals in our care.

Please keep in mind that sudden changes in environment and temperature can be extremely stressful for rabbits and guinea pigs, and although we do keep a temperature controlled space (around 19 - 20 C) they could still have trouble adjusting.

If you have any questions about this policy or need guidance on preparing your pet for boarding, please feel free to contact us.

  • We provide high-quality, locally grown hay, which is currently a 2025 2nd cut mixed grass hay with some alfalfa. This hay is fresh, nutritious, and an excellent source of fiber for both rabbits and guinea pigs.

For pellets, we offer a mix of Martin and Oxbow pellets to ensure a balanced diet.

Fresh greens are also provided daily. We normally have:
🥬 Red & green leaf lettuce
    🥬 Romaine lettuce
    🥬 Radicchio lettuce
    🌿 Dandelion, cilantro, parsley
🌿 Sometimes dill and peppers (green peppers are given to all guinea pigs for extra vitamin C)

If your pet has specific dietary needs or preferences, please let us know! You're also welcome to bring their usual hay and pellets to keep their diet consistent during their stay.  We cannot take any fridge items currently.

  • At this time, we do not offer playtime outside of the pen, as we do not have the space to safely provide this. However, we ensure that all pets have ample room to move around and will provide a larger pen space if possible during their stay.

If you would like to guarantee a larger space for your pet, we recommend booking two pens. Please contact us for availability and pricing.

  • Yes! All of our guests are free roam to some extent at home, and we understand the concern about transitioning to a pen. However, we find that most rabbits feel more comfortable in a smaller space while boarding, as it helps them feel secure in a new environment. A larger space can sometimes be overwhelming and stressful, especially for first-time boarders.

For repeat guests, we often see increased confidence, and if they are comfortable, we try to provide a larger pen space when possible. Rest assured, all of our pens are spacious enough for rabbits to run and do binkies, and guinea pigs have ample room to explore and popcorn during their stay.

If you have concerns, feel free to reach out so we can discuss how to make your pet’s stay as stress-free as possible!

  • By filling out a boarding application on our boarding page! We offer Silver, Gold and Platinum boarding packages.

  • A minimum of 14 day's notice is required to cancel a booking.  A 40% booking fee is non-refundable and will be retained if a cancellation is made.

Cancellations made within 14 days of the scheduled drop-off date are non-refundable, and no monies will be returned.

If we are able to fill your reserved space with another booking, the 40% booking fee will still be retained, but any remaining balance paid will be refunded for the days rebooked by another guest.

  • We have limited boarding spots at any given time and are regularly fully booked.  We always suggest booking your pet's stay when your plans are finalized as we do need payment in full to book the spot.

  • We maintain a high standard of cleanliness to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all boarded pets. Each morning, we fully clean all litter boxes, water dishes, and pens, providing fresh bedding, hay, and water. Throughout the day, we spot-clean as needed to keep everything tidy.

Between boarders, we perform a deep clean and complete sanitation of all pens, litter boxes, and accessories to ensure a fresh, hygienic space for the next guest. We use pet-safe cleaning products to keep your rabbit or guinea pig healthy and safe.

  • Yes, intact (not spayed or neutered) rabbits are accepted, but there is a 20% additional charge to account for the extra cleaning required and the potential for increased territorial or aggressive behaviors due to hormones.

Guinea pigs, however, do not typically display these same behaviors, so there is no additional charge for intact guinea pigs.

  • No, for safety and health reasons, all boarded pets are housed separately and do not have direct contact with other rabbits or guinea pigs during their stay. Rabbits can be territorial, and introductions between unfamiliar animals can lead to stress or injury.

Each pet will receive individual attention, enrichment, and lots of pets and cuddles as needed during their stay. If you are boarding bonded pairs or groups, they will, of course, stay together.

  • To ensure your pet has a comfortable and stress-free stay, please bring the following:

✅ A secure carrier – It must lock properly and be in good repair for safe transport or in case of emergency.
✅ Chew toys, treats, or favorite blankets – All items must be clean and hair-free upon arrival.
✅ Pellets and hay for at least the first two days – This helps transition your pet to the food we provide.

    🚫 We cannot accept:
❌ Large or heavy items (limited storage space)
❌ Items that are not clean upon arrival
    ❌ Litter boxes

To help save space, please ensure all items can fit on top of your pet’s carrier. If you have any questions about what to bring, feel free to ask!

  • If we have space available, we can usually extend your pet’s stay with enough notice. However, if we are fully booked, we may not be able to keep them, and we would expect your emergency contact to pick them up at the scheduled pick-up appointment.

🚨 Important: If you do not show up for your scheduled pick-up time without prior notice, there will be an additional fee, plus an additional daily charge for each extra day your pet stays past their arranged pick-up date.

To avoid any issues, we always recommend booking your pick-up time for at least one day after your plane is set to arrive. If you anticipate any travel delays, please contact us as soon as possible to make arrangements!

  • At this time, we do not offer tours of our boarding space. This is to ensure the safety and health of all our current guests, as we want to prevent any potential diseases from being introduced. Additionally, many of our boarders can be quite nervous, and we want to avoid causing them any stress.

We understand that this may be disappointing, but we believe most owners would prefer to minimize disturbances around their pets. For your peace of mind, we have plenty of photos and videos available on our website and social media pages to give you a thorough look at the environment we provide. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out!

  • No, we do not sell rabbits or guinea pigs. We focus on boarding and rescuing rabbits and guinea pigs, providing them with care, attention, and a safe environment while they stay with us.

If you are looking to adopt, we do have a rescue and can sometimes have rabbits or guinea pigs available for adoption. Please contact us for more details or to inquire about adoption opportunities!

  • We are happy to accommodate rabbits and guinea pigs with medical conditions or special needs, including those requiring medication, restricted diets, or extra monitoring. These pets may be booked under our Platinum Stay or with prior discussion to ensure we can provide the care they need. Please provide complete details on any medical issues, medications, or behavioral quirks when booking.

  • Yes! While we provide a hide spot, litter box, and basic enrichment in every pen, personal items from home are encouraged. Familiar toys, blankets, or small tunnels can help reduce stress during their stay. Just be sure items are clean and safe for chewing. We also sell toys, hay cubes, and handmade blankets if you’d like to leave extras with your pet.
